Where it all began
Charles Tang's journey began in the late 1990s, when the internet was still in its infancy, and e-commerce was a new frontier. Fascinated by the potential of online sales, Charles started selling products online (Playstation, mobile phones and Video CDs among some!) experimenting with different business models and navigating the challenges of a rapidly evolving digital landscape. As e-commerce grew, so did his passion for the industry.
In the early 2000s, Charles saw an opportunity to empower other entrepreneurs and businesses. On September 10, 2001 InstanteStore was launched - a versatile DIY e-commerce platform that enabled anyone to easily set up and manage their own online store. His platform became a success, helping SME businesses in over 85 countries processed more than US$1.8 billion in sales.
However, his love for gaming, combined with his deep understanding of e-commerce, sparked a new vision: a fully immersive digital world where users could socialize, play games, and shop both virtually and physically. Thus, Youniverse was born, blending Charles's passion for interactive entertainment with his expertise in commerce. Today, Youniverse stands at the cutting edge of metacommerce, paving the way for a new era of digital experiences.
